#7 Returns: How to break up with someone when you aren’t even dating
8 Mar
#7 was a truly special date. His persistence was incomparable, see date #7. So I shouldn’t have been surprised about how the rest of the events transpired.
I knew that #7 wasn’t going to leave me alone unless I did something. My frequent “I’m busy” excuses were not deterring him. Hasn’t he read/ seen the movie/ or heard about He’s Just Not that into You?
I agreed to meet him for lunch a few days ago. I was going to put an end to the barrage of text messages! I insisted on splitting the bill, to further prove the point that I was not interested in him. I can no longer afford to risk doing any action that will allow him to believe that we are dating.
I told him that I’m not looking for a relationship and don’t have a lot of time to hang out with people. He still didn’t get it. As we were leaving he asked me what I was doing Saturday. I hesitated and he said too soon, I’ll call you Monday.
And he did. He asked if I wanted to hang out. I explained that I had a long day and was going to go to the gym and veg*. He said he could bring over pizza and a movie. I said that I just wanted to go to the gym.
His response: Got it.
I hope he finally got it.
* If a girl as unemployed as I am says she had a “long day,” she just “isn’t that into YOU.”
